The Release of The SPIRIT
Embrace God’s Capacity
As a pastor I often heard people say, “I feel guilty when I pray for my own needs. After all, God has so many people to take care of.” In essence they are saying, “If God meets my needs, it will deplete Him in such a way that He cannot meet the needs of others.”
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (Isaiah 40:28)
This verse asserts that as Creator, God’s capacity can never be depleted. He is limitless and infinite. In mathematics, when you divide the number “infinity” by two, you get infinity. Infinity is the same thing as limitlessness, and you cannot divide limitlessness into anything smaller. Even if you divide infinity by seven billion, the population of the earth, you still get infinity. In other words, God’s grace is infinitely and always available to each one of us.
Nothing is impossible for Him. Neither does His love for us have any limits. Prayer is more than twisting the arm of a reluctant God; it is embracing the heart of a loving, willing God. It is said of Jesus that as He went to heal the sick He was “moved with compassion.” As we pray, we, too, can experience a dimension of His limitless love for others, and even for ourselves. This is “faith working through love” according to the apostle Paul in Galatians 5:6. Embrace God and His vast capacity today; know and share His limitless love.
Pray the Scriptures:
Thank God for His limitless capacity to love, forgive, and heal. Take time to dwell on the immensity of His love and ask God to increase the capacity of your heart to love.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36)
