The Release of The SPIRIT
Love the Children
May the words of Jesus in Mark 10:14 never lose their clarity in setting the priorities of our church life: “Let the little children come to me.” The disciples, in their all too adult world, were pushing the children aside and missing God’s heart. Jesus loves the children, and they are to be our inspiration. He says that we need the simple faith of a child to see the kingdom of Heaven, so let us pray for their hearts to remain pure and their faith uncomplicated.
From God’s perspective the most vulnerable among us are our greatest responsibility. Today a war is being waged in modern society against children—from abortion to broken families to child abuse to human trafficking to the moral pollution of their hearts and minds at very young ages. We need to pray for their protection and welfare.
Nearly half of all Americans who accept Jesus as Savior do so before age thirteen. I gave my heart to Christ as a 12 year-old child, and I drifted in and out church until I was 17 and I will never forget the fire of God’s Spirit in my young heart. That fire is what kept drawing me back to the LORD. Pray that the children in our churches will have a similar living encounter with Jesus Christ at an early age and that the fire of the Holy Spirit will take root in their souls.
Pray the Scriptures:
Exodus 22:22, 23
Pray for the salvation of our children, for godly teachers and role models in their lives, and for the fire of the Holy Spirit in their hearts.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14)
