The Release of The SPIRIT
Pray for Your Siblings
Sandi, shares a wonderful testimony of standing with her brother Doug in prayer for healing.
The summer of 1977 found her family in one of our most challenging seasons. Her twenty-six-year-old brother was diagnosed with a vascular tumor in his knee. He was referred to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for surgery.
The post-op diagnosis called for six weeks of intense radiation, which would leave his leg immobile. The three-day weekend gave her time to fast and pray before beginning the radiation regimen. She stood on Psalm 118: 8, 17, 21: “It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in men… . I shall not die, but live to tell of all his deeds… . O Lord, thank you so much for answering my prayer and saving me.”
When She went back, her brother told the doctors that he believed God was asking him to trust for his complete healing and reject any further treatment. Today he is a missionary in Ethiopia and still runs every day.
Sandi’s family joined together and stood on God’s Word for Doug’s healing. They fasted, prayed, sought God, and came away believing that healing would come from God—and it did. We cannot overlook the role of Scripture and standing on God’s promises when we pray for our family members. When a sibling is hurting, we stand next to them and we stand on God’s Word, believing for the healing that is needed.
Pray the Scriptures:
Do you have a sibling with a need? Take one of the scriptures above and pray it together. Stand on God’s promise for the fulfillment of that need.
Maybe you have a friend who feels like a brother or sister. If there is a need in your friend’s life, join together in prayer, believing God’s promise to meet it.
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)”
